Why Settl
You are not buying software. You are dealing with me.
Most vendors hand you a login and wish you luck. That does not work for someone who is on a truck all day, so I do the setup myself and stay reachable afterwards. Here is who you would be working with, and why I built this.
Sinmi OjeyomiFounder, SettlTwo sides of the same problem.
I have moved twelve times, across countries and across states. The customer half of this was never a market study for me. I already knew exactly what it feels like to have no idea where your things are.
I was working as an engineer at AWS when I started looking into whether it could be fixed properly, and I kept talking to the people actually doing the work. That is where the real thing showed up. The problem was never only on the customer’s side. It was on the mover’s side too.
One mover told me he was running about twenty moves in a day. He was driving, taking calls, and halfway through the fifth “can I get an update?” he just stopped picking up the phone. His customers were not being difficult. They had no way to see what was happening.
I spent two years talking to movers before I built anything. What I heard over and over was that owners were losing work they had already paid to get, because nobody could chase a quote while they were carrying furniture down a staircase.
So that is the job Settl does. It is not lead generation, and I have deliberately stayed out of broker and dispatcher territory, because I am not willing to sell your job to the company down the road. I look after the work you have already won, from the first call through to the review after the move.
How I work
What you actually get from me.
I set it up, you do not
I go through your open quotes and pending jobs with you and move them across myself, on a call, while you watch. You are not retyping a pipeline or starting from an empty screen.
I am on a call every two weeks
Not a ticket queue. A standing call to fix whatever is not working, for as long as you want it. That habit is how I found out what to build in the first place.
I stay out of your business
A client once asked me to start advising how he should run things and I said no. You have been moving people for years and I have not. I handle the follow-up. You run the company.
How big we are, honestly.
It is me and one other person. There is no support desk and no account manager, and I am not going to pretend otherwise on a website.
The trade is straightforward. You will not get a 24-hour helpline. You will get the person who built the thing, who set your account up, and who already knows how your company runs before you finish explaining the problem. In an industry that works on trust and word of mouth, I would rather be that than a logo with a ticket queue.
Who this is for
Owner-operators running one to eight trucks, still out on jobs themselves, who win work on their reputation and want to stop losing the leads they already paid for.
Talk to me before your busy season starts.
Thirty minutes on your own pipeline. If Settl does not fit your company, I will say so on the call.
